5 stars Surprising value for money Written by Zameer Ghumra
Here's why I'm so happy with this purchase.... Wild camping on my own with my top of the range Hilleberg Akto tent weighing in at less than 1.5kg!!! I wanted to share the great experience of my adventures with two friends AND I wanted to introduce my two sons (one of which has a tendency to break all he touches) to camping using my garden as the backdrop. At such entry level prices I was really just concentrating on the kids since the weight of the tent was probably going to be an issue!! BUT to my surprise it weighed in at approx. 5kg so sharing the weight with three persons would leave us each with approx. 1.8kg each. So that's just 0.2kg more than i'm used to carrying annyway!! :-) Added bonus.... Very easy to errect and it seems very durable( will only know for sure after it's past the kids on sugar test). Also it can quite easily sleep 4 ergo further reducing the weight shared and if you want, you can spend a little more and swap the steel pins for alluminium ones and don't tell your mates so you'll be carrying even less!!! :-) After first use in the garden with kids, I can safely say it is nicely breathable. It rained at night and I didn't wake up wet (always a little scared when buying entry level equipment-ie will it do what it says on the tin?). Overall, for my purposes of use I can't think of a better value tent. I'm happy with my purchase and after first use I would reccomend it. I'll be back with further reviews once i've taken the tent through more uses.
